The treatment is performed in a private treatment room with a consultation prior to treatment. After the consultation the client will be given a hygienic swap to clean the teeth. A plastic “retractor” is placed into the mouth to hold the cheeks and tongue in position and a protective dam is applied to the gums. The whitening gel is applied to the teeth and the laser light is then switched on to activate the whitening gel, which is specifically formulated to respond to this wavelength of light and the reaction created whitens the teeth within the smile area. This is activated for 15 mins and then the client rinses the mouth and teeth and the procedure is repeated a further two times taking the whole treatment time to 1hr and 30 mins.
Research data to date shows there is no risk to the enamel of the teeth or gums, and during the advised 24-48 hours temporary sensitivity is experienced by a small percentage of users.

Who can benefit from teeth whitening?

How long will results last?
Results can last up to 24 months but this depends on the lifestyle, age, diet, tooth structure and oral hygiene of the client. How does the whitening gel actually work?

What about my crowns, veneers, bridges, fillings or false teeth?
The system will not harm crowns, veneers, bridges, fillings or false teeth; however they will not be lightened beyond the original colour. It should be noted that after treatment natural teeth may become whiter than the colour of the implants. This is because the dentist will have matched the implant to the colour of the teeth at the time of fitting.

Will teeth whitening damage the enamel of my teeth?
Research data shows there is no risk to the enamel of the teeth other than the advised 24-48 hour possibility of temporary sensitivity.

Will teeth whitening damage my gums?
People with periodontal disease (gum disease) or excessive caries (cavities) should be treated by their dentist prior to using any teeth whitening products. The active ingredient in the gel is safe but if prolonged sensitivity of the gums beyond the normal 24-48 hours does occur it could indicate an existing problem and your dentist should be consulted.

Will it Hurt?
Most people find the procedure painless, however a small percentage may experience temporary sensitivity to hot and cold for 24-48 hours following treatment. All treatment packs are sterile and individually packed for the client they are then dispersed of after the treatment.
